Mountain Lion Safaris 10 days Marangu Route & Tanzania Safari package offers a thrilling adventure combining the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via the scenic Marangu Route with an exciting Tanzania safari experience. The itinerary typically includes six days of trekking on the Marangu Route, known as the “Coca-Cola” route, offering a more comfortable ascent with hut accommodations along the way. Climbers can enjoy stunning views, diverse landscapes, and the accomplishment of reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After the climb, the package includes a four-days safari in Tanzania’s renowned national parks, such as the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater & Tarangire National Park. This safari allows travellers to witness the incredible wildlife of Tanzania, including the Big Five, in their natural habitats, creating a well-rounded and unforgettable East African adventure.
Day 1 – Arrival in Tanzania
Pick from Airport & transfer to your accommodation where you will Meet our Mountain Lion and Safaris guides who shall give a detailed brief about your adventure for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Day 2 – Moshi to Marangu gate then hike up to Mandara Hut
This is the first day of the adventure, where after the morning breakfast from the hotel, you will be picked to the office for briefing, equipment checks and then starts the journey to the gate where you will finish up with the gate formalities before staring the hike up to the Mandara Hut.
Time & Distance: 3 to 4hrs a hiking of 8km distance
Elevation: 1860m/6100ft to 2700m/8875ft

Day 3 –Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
On this day you be ascending through the open moorland up to the Horombo hut. From this post you will starts to have the feeling of the altitude changes.
What to see: Lobelias, groundsels and the great view of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo
Time & Distance: 5 to 6hrs a hiking of 12km distance
Elevation: 2700m/8875ft to 3700m/12,200ft

Day 4 – Acclimatization Day
This day is served for climbers to increase the chance of success for the summit. As you will be ascending higher to the top of the mountain on day 4, you need to have the climate change adaptation then you will be trekking to the Zebra rock and then back to Horombo hut for lunch and continue relaxing and collecting some strength for the adventure itself ahead on the next day.
What to see: The distinctive black and white stripes rocks (zebra rocks)

Elevation: Zebra Rocks 4020m/Horombo Hut 3700m

Day 5- Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
On this day you will be passing the last point where you can find water, and from there the venture will be deep walking to the Kilimanjaro saddle which is the way between the two peaks which are Kibo and Mawenzi.

Day 6 –Summit Day
This is the adventurous part through the Marangu route and is the memorable part as you are about to be certified with the Kilimanjaro climbing certificate. You will be leaving Kibo hut in the midnight of around 23:00 hours start the climbing to the summit on steep heavy scree or sometimes snow up to the Gilman’s point which is located on the crater rim. From there you will be ascending to the Uhuru peak and reaching there, you are at the highest point in Africa or you have reached the roof of Africa. You will spend short time and from there you will be descending down through Kibo to the Horombo encampment.
Time & Distance: 6 to 8hrs Ascending up/ a hiking of 6km distance and 15km descending to Horombo
Equipment’s: Headlamps/flashlight, warm layers as it will be very cold before descending

Day 7 –Horombo hut to Marangu gate to Arusha
After the morning breakfast you will continue the descending up passing through the Mandara hut and then continue the descending up to the Marangu gate where you started the adventures and from there you will find the office team waiting for you and you will be picked and drive back to Arusha for overnight

Day 8 –Tarangire National Park
Depart to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and baobab-studded landscapes. Enjoy a game drive in the park, encountering an array of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, lions, and more. After Lunch drive to nearly Ngorongoro for relaxation, dinner & Overnight.
Day 9 & 10 – Serengeti National Park
Indulge in a full day of wildlife exploration within the park.

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and recently hailed as the 7th wonder of the world, the Serengeti is renowned for its annual migration, where approximately six million hooves thunder across the expansive plains. Offering an unparalleled safari experience in all of Africa, the Serengeti presents an opportunity to encounter the majestic creatures often seen only in the pages of National Geographic: vast herds of buffalo, intimate gatherings of elephant and giraffe, and countless eland, Topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant’s gazelle.
Day 11 –Departure
After an early breakfast, we will embark on a captivating excursion to witness the morning wildlife activity in the Serengeti. Following a rewarding four-hour exploration, we will head to the Seronera airstrip for a flight to Arusha. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and depending on your flight schedule you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your evening departure.
